The history of Mageía
Once upon a time there was a Supreme Goddess named Mageía who created earth. Earth was one big country, but the sea split the country in 8 pieces. One of those pieces, nowadays called Mageía, was the only land with vegetation and all the Gods were sent here by the Supreme Goddess. These Gods came with a mission, to create life. That’s why Mageía is recorded as the oldest country on this planet. In the beginning, Mageía was only inhabited by five Gods who received orders from the Supreme Goddess. They were the Gods of water, earth, air, and fire, the 4 elements of nature. Besides, there was one female God, the Goddess of love.

The names of the Gods come from ancient Greek and their meanings are:
o Mageía = Magic (Supreme Goddess)
o Édafos = Earth
o Neró = Water
o Fotiá = Fire
o Ánemos = Wind
o Agápi = Love

Mageía’s main cities have a curious story.
The names of the cities are the names of the Gods but spelled backwards, as shown below:
o Aíegam (capital) = Mageía
o Sofadé = Édafos
o Óren = Neró
o Áitof = Fotiá
o Somená = Ánemos
o Ipága = Agápi
Without these Gods, Mageía and the rest of the world could not function in the perfect way that they now do. The wind raises the clouds to form the rain, that nurtures the earth to grow vegetation, fruits and flowers, and the wood that kindles the fire. The Goddess of love brings faithfulness, discipline, and unity to the rest of the Gods and the world.
These two first humans had a birth mark with the actual national symbol, a four-leaf clover made of 4 hearts that nowadays represents good luck. Their first born also had the mark, which is believed by Mageíans (Mageía citizens) to be a blessing and a direct connection with the Supreme Goddess.
Later in history, the five Gods felt lonely and begged the Supreme Goddess to bring more people to Mageía. One day, they decided to organise a ceremony, they unified their powers and with the help of the Supreme Goddess they created two human lives, a male and a female. These two humans started reproducing and bringing more and more human life to Mageía, up to the 8,436,560 inhabitants they are today.
With the arrival of humans, and therefore relationships, the Goddess of love had to give her approval to every relationship. She created a sacred ceremony that nowadays is called marriage, which stands for “either married or single, no in-between, no divorce”. Unfortunately, she saw some unfaithful behaviour behind her back and decided to punish and discipline those who dared disobey her. She sent those people and their bastards away to country 5, the home of pariahs, outcasts of society. Nowadays, it’s a practice that still continues.

The Goddess of love also believed strongly in fertility and reproduction as a blessing and obligation for women. Infertile and virgin females are perceived as a symbol of evil, and it’s a tradition in Mageía to bury women with these characteristics alive to appease the Gods (vivisepulture).
Once earth and humans were flourishing, the mission of the Gods was accomplished. Therefore, the Supreme Goddess took them back together with her to the beyond. Now, all Gods in the Pantheon are revered and there is a strong belief among citizens that they never actually left.
Mageíans believe they are always watching and protecting them from the above, so they really feel the need to behave properly and give them back as much as they can to express their gratitude. They do this by protecting the land, producing their own crops, reusing as many parts/items as possible, visiting the Pantheon frequently and keeping the privilege of eating meat only for the Gods.
Currently, the country is led by the High Priest, who is believed to be a descendant from the Supreme Goddess and must have the sacred birth mark in order to lead the country.
